Latest news!
Updated 5/20/2008
On Wednesday night 5/21/2008, WDNN TV-10 in Dalton, Georgia will carry a short feature interview with yours truly, Tony Burton and some of my teen creative writing class students. It airs at 5:30, 7:00 and 10:00 PM. (The young people are much more videogenic than I am!)
I'm very honored to discover today that I have been elected to the Board of the Calhoun Gordon Arts Council in Calhoun, Georgia, and they have made me the head of the Literary Arts Guild there! I'm humbled by this, but it's also a great chance for me to help fellow authors to gain exposure, as well as to introduce new authors to the ravenous readers of Gordon County, Georgia! The Literary Arts Guild is a totally new division of the Arts Council, and we'll be building it from the ground up.
Once more, I'll be teaching Creative Writing Classes at the Harris Arts Center in Calhoun, Georgia. Classes run from May 5 through June 16 on Monday nights, with a night off for Memorial Day.
Award winner!
I was informed on April 29 that two of my short stories won at the annual Public Safety Writers Association writing contest. My story "The Christmas Cutout Caper" from the CAROLS AND CRIMES, GIFTS AND GRIFTERS anthology won First Place in the Published Short Stories category, and my story "The Fat's In the Fire" won Third Place in the Unpublished Short Stories category. (Of course, after I submitted that story it was picked up by Amazon as an Amazon Short, but still...)
The folks at the Harriette Austin Writers' Conference were kind enough to invite me back to present again for the 2008 conference. I really enjoyed my time there at the 2007 Conference, and I'm really looking forward to going back!
Here is an interview of yours truly, conducted by Editor Joe DeMarco of Mysterical-E. (In it, I am wearing my hat as the owner and chief editor of Wolfmont Publishing.)
